I love coming in with the girls on tuesdays for drinks and appetizers. The Boursin Cheese Stuffed Portabella is our favorite, along with a glass of Malbec or a Lemon Drop Martini. The Restaurant Week dinner special was amazing! Great presentation and excellent service from Chris. We were able to try a little bit of everything, and felt the price was a good value. The filet had great flavor, and was cooked to perfection, the crab cake was wonderful as well. The upscale atmosphere is quiet, intimate and relaxing. We felt comfortable sitting with our coffee and extending our evening. Dinner there made a cold wintery night a warm experience. Thanks for taking care of us, and bringing people to our beautiful city!

Suffice to say, Steve Smith and his wife, Melanie Elsass-Smith, really wanted to be restaurateurs. The result of Steve and Melanie’s determination is The Caroline, on Troy’s town square in the space formerly occupied by Taggart’s. The restaurant is named for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, and Steve sounds not unlike a proud parent when he discusses his business venture. “We wanted to bring something special to Troy, something different and unique, and I think we’ve accomplished that,” Smith said.
(Full review)Judging from the healthy crowds in the 120-seat restaurant during two recent midweek visits, Troy-area residents agree. And there’s enough here to like to make it a worthwhile trip for diners from surrounding counties.
