My friend and I had an excellent 4-course dinner last night at Alex's. Both of us had the lasagna with appetizer, salad and desert. I recommend this restaurant as a destination.

Great seafood!

I am a seafood lover and am a bit picky about it. I heard that the salmon was really good here so I ordered it and love love loved it! They also have the best meatloaf/smashed potatoes ever! Great job guys!

Grandioso!!!

My husband and I met another couple at Alex's for dinner, we enjoyed delicious meal. Porter House steak for my husband and baked ravioli with sauage for myself which was outstanding! We enjoyed a bottle of Chardonnay and topped it off with wonderful American apple pie. The manager stopped by to talk to us, which just added to our wonderful dinning experence. If you haven't tried Alex's on 725 you should stop in and try it tonight!!

Wonderful Send off for our daughter

Our daughter selected Alex's on 725 for her wedding reception. WOW! When we walked in my husband asked if we were in the right place, everything looked gorgeous. Alex's took care of all the planning, very attentive to my daughter and what she wanted. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. We had the rehearsal dinner in what they call the fireplace room, the food was delicious, we had the pork chops, chicken alex and lasagna. Everything was outstanding! If you are looking for a great dinner or to plan a wedding, we would highly recommend Alex's on 725!

Surprised!

I was in Dayton for a couple of weeks due to work and didn't know where to go to get a good meal. Fortunately I stumbled across active Dayton. This restaurant happened to be close to where I was working, but due to the reviews I decided not to go the first few nights I was in town. After doing a system migration Saturday night / Sunday morning, I happened to notice that they served brunch. I'm not sure why I decided to stop in but let me tell you, I am very glad I did. The food was outstanding! They had a tremendous variety food, including the best chicken and dumplings that I've had in a very long time.

I would certainly recommend that if you are looking for good food to seriously consider checking this place out.

Alex's Is FANTASTIC!!!

Can't believe the awful comments from disgruntled employees, but as a customer we couldn't have been happier!! The food was outstanding and the service was so friendly. I had the baked ravioli and it was like something my italian mother would have made. IT WAS SCRUMPTIOUS!!!!

And to top it off, you must have the brownie for dessert!! It was like a little piece of chocolate heaven just melting in your mouth!!

The manager was present in the dining room and stopped by to see how things were. He was very friendly and so was his wife. I guess this is a family run place and they seemed like a bunch of really honest and caring people.

You've got to check this place out!!

Alex's Has As Much Atmosphere As The Moon

Live music and recorded music both equally loud was terrible to listen to. Neither could be listened to and enjoyed with the other music also playing. When asked to see the manager, he walked by and just grinned and did nothing to resolve the noise issue. The bus boy patrolled the dining room like a prison guard. He walked by me 23 times during my meal. There were only a total of 5 of us in the whole dining room. Waitress charged me $6.75 for a small sliver of apple pie. I think she made up the price. Poor management and ownership leads to poor customer service. Stick a fork in this restaurant because they are done.

Can't rate a place that does't deserve one. I had my worst New Year's Eve ever. Never would have believed bad service would happen at the same place within a two week period. Made reservations for seven p.m. I arrived first so went to get a glass of wine and wait for my friends. I never was asked what I would like as there was only one bar tender to handle the crowd expected. Two more ladies came in about teen minutes after I did. I waited and the bar tender took their order. Still never acknowledged I was there. My friends arrived, so I Left the bar. We were seated before seven and it was thirty minutes before we even got a glass of water which was brought to us by the hostess. Then find out they seated us at a booth with no coverage. Eventually we do get a waitress who got us wine and bread after telling us they were running out of food and took our order.
Bread came with very soggy bottom and very salty. After being there for an hour and half we asked to see the manager. No food, no manager. Over two hours passed before our food arrived and it was bad. Again asking for the manager as our food was not fit to eat and said we were not paying for anything this bad after for it for over two hours. When he did come he was like rude and yelling at us saying there was no way to please us. (not true). I think we had been quite patient. All he had to do was come talk to us and not Come at us like we had no right to be upset. This was not the fault of the wait staff or kitchen. Falls completely on the manager (so called). Will never go back again and hope no one else does either.

Happy New Year

The four of us wanted a nice dinner to celebrate New Year's Eve, my mom really likes Alex's made reservations for 7. We were seated at 6:40 however didnt even get water until 715. We felt stuck as it was New Year's Eve and we might not get a table anywhere else. We are told they are running out of food. Our bread was wet on the bottom and very salty. At 930 food comes out. My mom ordered lasagna but what she got was a plate of meat sauce and a noodle. my broccoli had ice crystals and my salmon was overcooked. my other friends couldnt even cut their chicken. We Demanded to see the manager as he was refusing to come to the table. He finally did when we refused to pay because our food was unedible. He yelled at us for being unreasonable. He grabbed our plates off the table. We ended up not eating at all that night. Whatever you do avoid this place.

What a Joke!

It used to be a BIG deal to have dinner at Alex's when I was a kid in West Carrollton---this is the first time I have visited since it closed a few years ago and then reopened a few months ago. Total time warp. It was like I'd stepped back into the late 70's/early 80's--totally retro ambiance. Not necessarily in a good way, but it made me nostalgic for my youth. About 3/4 full, a fair number of walkers and transport chairs, but I count three young'uns as well. Had read mixed reviews on-line and was actually visiting to see if we wanted to have our company party here. One complaint was the poor service.

At about 8:05 hostess seated us and promised us menus. Menus arrived about six minutes later, hostess tells us server will be with us shortly. Very nice menus---heavy leather folders---might have been more pleasant if mine had not had a large grease spot in the shape of the African Continent right over the description of the Greek Salad. Prices are in the high 20's for the steaks---mid teens for the pasta, and then $6-8 dollars for meatball sub or hot dog. Interesting menu selection.

At 8:19 (yes, by now I am checking my watch because it looks like the reviewers were spot on), we are idly chatting and wondering when we'll get some attention when the server arrives and wants to take our order. My husband says we'd actually like to have a glass of wine and perhaps some water? What kind of wine did they serve by the glass? Server liberates wine list from family party taking place at table next to us. Nice wine selection, heavy on the whites. We each order a glass of merlot. The dining room is starting to empty out.

Server returns at 8:26 with two glasses of water, says she'll be right back with the wine. At 8:30, hubby and I agree five minutes more and that's it.

At 8:37, we rise from the table and start out of the dining room, just as the server is coming out of the bar with the wine. "Where are you going?" "We're not staying---thirty minutes to even get a glass of wine is not acceptable", my husband tells her. "But she had to open the wine!" the server says. "Not interested", my husband says, and turns his back on the filthy look she threw him.

We are out to the car and buckled in about two minutes; on 725 in another. We are now in the mood for steak, even after that errr...enlightening experience. We make it to Carver's at about 8:50. We are seated immediately. We have our wine in five minutes, our orders are taken, and by nine o'clock we have fabulous salads and fresh bread in front of us. The rest of that meal was very good.

Can't judge based on the food, obviously, but won't be back at Alex's for any meal---company party or just out-and-about---because of the service alone. I am not paying 24.50 for a 10 oz prime rib and waiting over 30 minutes just for the privilege to order it.

Worst Ever!

I've been to this place twice.First time, couldn't get my order right.Made it up by giving me both meals free. Both were bad.I would like it right the first time. Second time!!! Even worse than the first. No Management.Grumble. Grumble. Grumble from staff. I do not want to hear grumbling from staff! Do not take my order and then ... fire the check 30 min. later. A hour later. Cold soup. Dining mate receives meal. Seems ok looks hot, they will eat it. My meal wrong steak. Try to fix it. four second on the grill and four minutes in the micro.Raw in the middle. Let's check back. Never! The hash browns were good. Bread fair. Service... Sucks! Quality... Sucks. They did deduct my steak. It would have been nice to have a nice dinner with my partner. And I didn't even get dinner!
