I was glad to see they updated the dixie Twin drive in to digital so that they can continue to exist once studios eliminate physical film next year.
Unfortunately this gives the Staff the ability to pause the movie 20 minutes in and announce that the concession stand is closing soon and give a 5 minute advertisement about what they are selling before resuming the movie.
I was also very upset that a staff member comes on at the end of the first movies to tell everyone to "honk your horn to let the other screen know you had a good time" The place was packed last night and this honking of hundreds of cars horns at the end of TMNT interrupted the experience of the people who were still watching Guardians of The Galaxy on the other screen.
I was also glad to see after a couple months, they finally opened the bathrooms back up. They still smelled a lot and had several stalls and urinals closed, but it was better than the port-o-johns i had to use the last 3 times I went there.
My only other complaint is that they should stop selling tickets after the movie itself (not the previews) has started. I understand a drive in is not a movie theater, but there were still tons people driving in with headlights on and trying to wedge into the few open spots a good 30 minutes into the film. One guy in a sports car that showed up 30 minutes late got mad he had to park behind my truck (in the last row) and started blinking his headlights at me when I refused to trade places with him halfway through the movie. Fortunately I am a big guy and was able to threaten him enough without saying anything that he drove away. I tried to go to security first, but the one guard was nowhere to be found.
I have been going to the Dixie Drive in for 25 years and this place has made a lot of positive changes. For the price of admission, the food, the friendly staff cannot beat it. Drive-ins are becoming rare and my family and I love the Dixie.
I love going to the Dixie Drive In! They have great food and the prices are cheaper then other theaters. The movies have been great this year (except for the rain)! I'm not sure what that other person is talking about because everyone there has been very nice to me. They keep everything very clean (including the bathrooms!) You will have a great time at the DIXIE!!!
My family and I went to the Dixie drive in tonight to see Toy Story 3. The show was scheduled to start at 9:30pm and at 10:30pm when the movie still hadn't began I went to the concession stand to find out what the problem was and they told me they didn't know why their projectors weren't operating and that they were canceling the show and I would be able to receive a rain check. I asked the man in the booth if they checked their breaker box and he said he didn't know I would have to ask the manager. I didn't know it took leadership skills to see if a circuit had blown. So I returned to my vehicle and had to wait for over an hour to get back up to the box office where they had began to refund money only after the Montgomery county sheriff's deputy was called out. I really Love drive in movie theaters but I will never return to the Dixie drive in....if you are interested in the drive in experience I would suggest the Melody 49 it is a much nicer and cleaner environment!!!!!
