Antojitos Criollos

Wife & I drove from Indianapolis to try this place. After hours of online searching It seemed to be the closest Puerto Rican restaurant to us. Family owned & run. Very nice people. Please note some dishes may take a bit long to prepare. The owner explained to us how he really wanted people to get fresh, authentic food & he didn't feel that would be possible with pre-preped (half-cooked) food. The Mofongo was EXCELLENT. So was the Pernil (roast pork,) papas rellenas (stuffed potato.) Chicharon (fried chicken pieces. with bone-in so be careful) were too good. Alcapurias (no idea how to translate this one) were awesome, and yes we ate too much. We also took 2 dozen pasteles home and all i can say is, I'll be back, with friends and a large cooler.

And NO!... I am not related to the owner! I don't even know the owner! I did not expect much when I went in... the restaurant is new and the decor could use some TLC. BUT THE FOOD WAS REALLY, REALLY GOOD! They had real, very clean tableclothes on the tables. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants well-prepared-and-presented, authentic Puerto Rican food at a good price and does not mind the decor. I WILL go again. It is well worth the visit!!!!
