Does anyone remember McNasty's, the popular nightclub located inside an old barn on the corner of Fishburg and Rip Rap Rd. on the outskirts of Huber Heights? A hoppin' joint in its heyday, McNasty's has been closed for years now, but the old barn is still alive and kicking. (And when I say old, I'm not kidding. The building eclipsed the 150-year milestone a couple months ago). The barn now houses an Australian-themed pub called Jackass Flats, affectionately referred to by its regulars as The Flats. This nifty little place is the brainchild of John Walsh, a native Australian who dreamed of operating an Australian pub and/or restaurant since he moved to Dayton several years ago. Teaming up with Terry Smith, owner of the Fairway Inn Restaurant at Kittyhawk Golf Course, they purchased the building together in 1997. After much hard work and endless red tape, The Flats finally opened in February of this year. The Australian theme is clearly evident at a glance. One side of the barn is highlighted by a huge mural featuring cartoon caricatures of a kangaroo and a donkey. The old grain silo protruding from the center of the structure has been painted to resemble a gigantic Foster's Lager oil can. The visual appeal continues inside, where massive wood beams and exposed stone and mortar lend rustic warmth to the cozy interior. A cute bathroom sign directs Sheilas and blokes to their appropriate destinations. Handmade wooden barstools carved into the likeness of a donkey's rear end put a punctuation mark on the unusual decor. As much as I like the food at The Flats, it's the atmosphere that keeps me coming back. The crowd is diverse, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. It's one of those rare Cheers-like places where everyone seems welcome. When the weather is cooperative, the back patio is the place to be. What could be better than a tall beer and a good game of cornhole?

This use to be a awesome place to hang out until the manager Jeff aka douchebag started running it into the ground. He thinks he owns the place, dude you just live in the little shack in front of the place. When they finally fire his sorry butt then I will go back. Fag has a Harley and doesn't even ride, what a tool.

I read the reviews and not sure who the people know that are giving positive reviews but clearly they are not at the same place. My wife and I went to Jackass Flats and it was terrible. The service was horrible. Our waitrss was more worried about smoking then waiting on us. The place was disgusting. The bathrooms were so bad we would be better off using outside toilets. As far as getting a beer our selves thats why we go out so that is a ridiculous comment. The prices I did not think were any higher then other places. The food was average at best maybe if we did not have to wait an hour to get our food while people that came in after us were served first it might have been better or at least warm. The staff were not as polite as Little York tavern an establishment I would compare to Jackass Flats. The hype about the place is ridiculous. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The one comment they were busy ok granted but this is the third time we have been there and the last. The first time was a Wednesday so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second time was dollar hamburgers and they were not that busy. Today was not that busy they had waitresses standing around so how busy could they be and our wiatress was standing around smoking at the end of the patio. I only know this since I had to hunt someone to wait on us to give us more drinks and I found her. There is not a score low enough to give this place. I would recommend the benefits we saw advertisements for find a more worthy place.
We ran into some people over the weekend October 21st and they had been here and said it was dirty, the service was awful, the manager was rude way to go Jackass Flats you do not correct anything nice I hope it closes. My buddies and gal friends have been going to JAF for about 5 years now. This year has been a lot of fun. Most of the time the bands are good , Buckeye HD groug has added more fun. I like the new bikes on display. The service has always been good for us. You have to remenber they get very besy. You can always get off you dead ass and get you own drink LOL. keep up the good work Jack Ass Flats. I run into a lot of people from Darke Co. even Toledo on bike night . Hell you got to be doing something right Later Nick

We been going to Jackass for 5yrs and have brought many people with us and use to love it but Jeff took over and it has went to Hell all he cares about is young girls and service is very bad.they put pool tables in and took dance floor away and when you go to listen to band you want to dance put tables upstairs or add on.We went down again after not going for awhile cause it has gotten very disappointing and it was even worse this time girls didnt care if we had service they cared more about playing with guys or Jeff whoever and alot of our friends said they wont come back down.They raised price alot and I feel Terry needs to take back over it was a GREAT place to go and have alot of fun but NO MORE IT SUCKS bad Miss The GREAT OLD JACKASS Flats

Very poor service. Manager...(Jeff) has no interest in providing good service for his customers. We had an incident happen that our server placed our food order and it was wrong. Instead of making it right manager Jeff was going to make us pay additional money for the correction. Also, be aware of using your credit card and if you do make sure to keep your receipt. If you leave a tip on the credit card slip it will be charged more than what you left. It was a fight with them to get that corrected also. Jackass Flats will no longer have our business along with others. Pass the word along. Check out the bike night food menu....they have jacked up all food prices. Manager Jeff...Maybe some Charm School 101...102 would do you some good!
